MOLA Secondary Mirror Frequency Response Results

The charts shown below give acceleration responses of the secondary mirror at GRID 100001.

The un-notched input in the chart titles refers to the fact that these analysis runs were performed with the MOLA-1 input test spec. MOLA-2 will use a notched form of that spec for testing. See the frequency response input spec and the frequency response force analysis for further information. It should be noted that the MOLA-1 spec used in this analysis was itself notched at 60 Hz, which is why there is a significant drop in the accelerations at that frequency.

The chart shows acceleration vs. frequency. For each frequency in the input range it gives the corresponding acceleration of the GRID point. We are concerned with frequencies that have high accelerations. For example, in the second chart, we see two peaks at about 80 Hz (ignoring the drop at 60 Hz) in the T2 and T3 (Y and Z) directions. This is because the instrument's first mode is at about 80 Hz.
